We are in the final sprint leading up to Lakewood’s school board’s decision on whether or not to close and repurpose one or even two of Lakewood’s neighborhood elementary schools (the school board will vote on October 20th).  Want to learn more?  Check out our new FAQs!


Key Upcoming Dates and Opportunities

(The ones marked with a double asterisk (**) are highlighted as crucial to fill the room with as many voices as possible. Others are informational as the process unfolds.)


  • Monday, September 15, 7pm @ Lincoln Elementary - Share Your Voice at School Board Meeting.  Lakewood’s school board needs to hear from you!  Share your opinion with Lakewood’s school board during its meeting.  At this meeting, the Superintendent will outline the decision-making and community input process leading up to the Board vote on October 20th.  More details on this event here and on our FB event.


  • **Big Push: Monday, September 29, time and location TBA - Last Chance to Share Your Voice at Lakewood City Schools Community Meeting.  Lakewood City Schools’ superintendent and school board want to hear from YOU as they consider whether or not to close and repurpose elementary schools in Lakewood.  Take this one last opportunity for your voice to be heard in the process before the Superintendent makes a recommendation and the Board votes. The district needs to hear from a wide variety of public voices. More details here and on our FB event.



  • Monday, October 6, 7pm - Superintendent to announce recommendation at School Board Meeting @ Lakewood High School Cafeteria.


  • Tuesday, October 7 - Early voting begins (Lakewood voters will vote for two candidates for Lakewood school board.)


  • Monday, October 20, 7pm @ Lakewood High School Cafeteria - Lakewood’s school board will officially vote on whether or not to close and repurpose elementary schools in Lakewood at its meeting.


  • Tuesday, November 4 - Election Day (Lakewood voters will vote for two candidates for Lakewood school board.)
