• Monday, September 15, 7pm @ Lincoln Elementary - Share Your Voice at School Board Meeting.  Lakewood’s school board needs to hear from you!  Share your opinion with Lakewood’s school board during its meeting.  At this meeting, the Superintendent will outline the decision-making and community input process leading up to the Board vote on October 20th.  More details on this event here and on our FB event.

• **Big Push: Monday, September 29, time and location TBA - Last Chance to Share Your Voice at Lakewood City Schools Community Meeting.  Lakewood City Schools’ superintendent and school board want to hear from YOU as they consider whether or not to close and repurpose elementary schools in Lakewood.  Take this one last opportunity for your voice to be heard in the process before the Superintendent makes a recommendation and the Board votes. The district needs to hear from a wide variety of public voices. More details here and on our FB event.

• ** Big Push: Thursday, October 2, 6:30pm - Meet the School Board Candidates Forum @ Lakewood Woman’s Pavilion at Lakewood Park.  Get to know candidates who are running for Lakewood school board at this family-friendly event.  More info here and on our FB event.

• Monday, October 6, 7pm - Superintendent to announce recommendation at School Board Meeting @ Lakewood High School Cafeteria.

• Tuesday, October 7 - Early voting begins (Lakewood voters will vote for two candidates for Lakewood school board.)

• Monday, October 20, 7pm @ Lakewood High School Cafeteria - Lakewood’s school board will officially vote on whether or not to close and repurpose elementary schools in Lakewood at its meeting.

• Tuesday, November 4 - Election Day (Lakewood voters will vote for two candidates for Lakewood school board.)

• History Repeats Itself? School Closures & Sunshine Law Concerns for Board Members - This Lakewood Observer article back from 2010 exposes a familiar-sounding fiasco around school closures then. It raises questions about a board member allegedly breaking Sunshine Laws related to the Grant closure in 2010. Fast forward to 2024–2025 with the same sitting board member under potential litigation for the same topic (school closures) and the same allegations (breaking sunshine laws).
