Lakewood’s school board is still considering whether or not to close and repurpose one or even two of our seven neighborhood elementary schools. The most recent information from the superintendent is that the school board will vote on this in September 2025.
Please mark your calendar to join us at the school board meeting on Monday, June 16, at 7pm, at Taft Center for Innovation. We want to have a room full of people supporting our neighborhood elementary schools!
This fall, two of Lakewood school board’s five members are up for re-election, and we are excited that one of Preserve Lakewood Schools’ founding members, Monica Bruaw, is running for school board. Please take a moment to learn about her campaign, on her website, her Facebook page, and in her article in the Lakewood Observer, Move Forward With Monica for Lakewood School Board. Early voting begins October 7, and election day is November 4.

Volunteer Opportunity: Meet The Trucks on Saturday, June 7
Preserve Lakewood Schools will have a table at Meet The Trucks this Saturday, June 7, from 10am-2pm, at Lakewood Park. We’ll have fun kids’ activities like a sensory bin, Lego bin, and coloring pages, and we’ll be talking to folks about our seven neighborhood schools. Stop by and say hi! More Info Here.
We need a volunteer or two to help us staff the table! If you have an hour or two between 11am-2pm, please email us and lend a hand!
Keep Your Yard Signs Up!
Between recent wind storms, mowing, and other wear and tear, if your yard sign is looking worse for the wear (or has even blown away completely), please request a new yard sign and we will deliver it to you asap! Request a Yard Sign Here.
Or if you just need new a new metal stand, please email us at info@preservelakewoodschools.org and include your address.
