Sign up to Speak at a Board of Education (School Board) Meeting and/or Attend to Show Your Support
School board meetings are open to the public, and each school board meeting reserves time on the agenda for the school board to hear public comments from residents.

The school board typically meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 7pm, and meetings usually last 60-90 minutes.

Preserve Lakewood Schools will have a group of people speaking at each school board meeting moving forward, and we invite you to join us to make public comments. Public speaking not your thing? You can also simply attend and sit with our group in support, and/or sign up to take notes at the meeting. There is strength in numbers.

Tips for Speaking
Communicate clearly and directly. Tell your story. Tell them who you are, and how repurposing (closing) up to two of Lakewood's neighborhood elementary schools would impact your family. It helps to have a prepared statement to speak from. Try to look up at the board and district staff while you’re speaking and not looking down the whole time at a piece of paper. Stick to facts and offer solutions or suggestions when possible. You’ll do great!
